Deep in the dramatic, sun-drenched amphitheater of the Mosel Valley lies the legendary Erdener Prälat vineyard, a tiny four-hectare parcel of red slate soil sheltered by towering red cliffs. Historically favored by high-ranking clergy—hence the name 'Prälat' (Prelate)—this exceptionally warm microclimate yields Riesling of unparalleled opulence. For the GG Reserve (Grosses Gewächs Reserve), winemaker Ernst Loosen revives traditional, slow-paced cellar practices. The wine is fermented with indigenous yeasts in traditional 1,000-liter Fuder oak casks and rested on its full lees for an extraordinary 24 months, followed by extended bottle aging.
