The Dr. Loosen estate has been in the same family for over 200 years, cultivating vines on the steep, dramatic slopes of the Mosel Valley. The Graacher Riesling is a village-level wine that beautifully captures the unique terroir of Graach, a historic winemaking village situated between Bernkastel and Wehlen. The vineyards here are characterized by steep gradients and a dominant soil profile of weathered blue Devonian slate. This slate is crucial; it absorbs the sun's heat during the day and radiates it back to the vines at night, while forcing the roots deep into the earth for water and nutrients. Crafted from 100% Riesling, the wine is typically fermented with native yeasts in traditional, large oak casks (Fuder) to enhance its texture and complexity. The result is a vibrant, mineral-driven white wine that balances electric acidity with notes of white peach, green apple, and a distinct, stony minerality characteristic of Graach's prized slopes.

The historic Dr. Loosen estate has been in the Loosen family for over two centuries, situated along the dramatic, slate-lined slopes of the Middle Mosel in Bernkastel-Kues, Germany. Since taking over management in 1988, Ernst Loosen has revitalized the winery by strictly focusing on low yields, meticulous vineyard stewardship, and minimal intervention in the cellar. The estate is blessed with extraordinarily old, ungrafted Riesling vines in legendary Grand Cru (Grosse Lage) vineyards such as Erdener Prälat, Wehlener Sonnenuhr, and Bernkasteler Lay. Dr. Loosen is globally celebrated for producing pure, expressive, and age-worthy Rieslings that range from vibrant dry bottlings to lusciously complex, mineral-laced Prädikat and dessert wines.
