Hailing from one of the Mosel Valley's most legendary vineyards, the Wehlener Sonnenuhr (Sundial of Wehlen), this Riesling Kabinett is a masterclass in tension and elegance. The vineyard takes its name from the historic sundial erected in 1842 by Jodocus Prüm to guide the daily rhythms of the vineyard workers. Planted on precipitously steep, pure blue Devonian slate slopes, the ungrafted, ancient vines yield a wine of remarkable mineral intensity. Under the stewardship of Ernst Loosen, this 'Tradition' bottling is crafted using traditional practices, including fermentation with indigenous yeasts in large, neutral oak casks (Fuder). The result is a classic Mosel Kabinett: feather-light in body, naturally low in alcohol, and vibrating with an electric current of crisp acidity that perfectly balances its delicate, off-dry stone fruit sweetness.

The historic Dr. Loosen estate has been in the Loosen family for over two centuries, situated along the dramatic, slate-lined slopes of the Middle Mosel in Bernkastel-Kues, Germany. Since taking over management in 1988, Ernst Loosen has revitalized the winery by strictly focusing on low yields, meticulous vineyard stewardship, and minimal intervention in the cellar. The estate is blessed with extraordinarily old, ungrafted Riesling vines in legendary Grand Cru (Grosse Lage) vineyards such as Erdener Prälat, Wehlener Sonnenuhr, and Bernkasteler Lay.
