The Wiltinger Braune Kupp is a legendary steep vineyard situated on a dramatic bend of the Saar River, a tributary of the Mosel. Since 1954, the Egon Müller family has managed this historic site under the Le Gallais estate name. Unlike the cool, grey slate of the nearby Scharzhofberg, the Braune Kupp is defined by iron-rich red slate and clay soils, which absorb the sun's warmth and impart a distinctly opulent, spicy, and exotic character to the 100% Riesling grapes grown here. The 'Versteigerung' designation indicates that this Auslese is a special auction bottling. These rare casks are hand-selected by the winemaker as the absolute pinnacle of the vintage, representing an extraordinary harmony of noble rot, luscious sweetness, and electric, life-giving acidity. It is a wine steeped in the rich tradition of the annual VDP Trier wine auctions, where collectors from around the globe vie for a few precious bottles.

Weingut Egon Müller-Scharzhof traces its heritage to 1797 when Jean-Jacques Koch acquired the historic estate, nestled in Wiltingen along the Saar valley within Germany's famed Mosel region. Handed down across generations, the estate is celebrated globally under the stewardship of Egon Müller IV, who maintains a deeply traditional approach emphasizing pristine vineyard management, late harvesting, and minimal cellar intervention. The estate is crowned by its holdings in the legendary Scharzhofberg vineyard, home to pre-phylloxera, ungrafted Riesling vines grown on steep, slate soils.
