The Scharzhofberg is arguably Germany's most famous vineyard, a legendary south-facing slope of weathered grey Devonian slate in the cool Saar valley. Egon Müller's stewardship of this grand terroir has elevated their Rieslings to mythical status. Originally cultivated by the monks of the Abbey of St. Paul in Trier during the Middle Ages, the estate was acquired by the Müller family in 1797. The Scharzhofberger Kabinett is crafted from 100% Riesling, fermented with indigenous yeasts in traditional large oak casks known as Fuder. It is celebrated worldwide for its breathtaking tension, balancing delicate residual sweetness with a vibrant, electric acidity and intense, smoky slate minerality. This wine represents the absolute pinnacle of the traditional, light-bodied yet incredibly complex Mosel Kabinett style.
