✨ Technical Specifications

The Wiltinger Braune Kupp Riesling Auslese is a masterpiece born from the historic partnership between the iconic Egon Müller estate and the Le Gallais winery, which Müller has managed since 1954. Situated on a steep, amphitheater-like curve along the Saar River, the Braune Kupp vineyard is famed for its iron-rich, reddish-brown Devonian slate soils. This unique terroir absorbs the sun's warmth, imparting a distinctively rich, smoky minerality and exotic spice to the 100% Riesling grapes. Crafted only in exceptional vintages when botrytis develops perfectly, the Auslese is meticulously hand-harvested through multiple selective passes. The resulting wine is a legendary expression of Saar winemaking, seamlessly balancing intense, honeyed sweetness with a vibrant, electric acidity that ensures it remains fresh and alive for generations.

🍾 About the Producer

Weingut Egon Müller-Scharzhof traces its heritage to 1797 when Jean-Jacques Koch acquired the historic estate, nestled in Wiltingen along the Saar valley within Germany's famed Mosel region. Handed down across generations, the estate is celebrated globally under the stewardship of Egon Müller IV, who maintains a deeply traditional approach emphasizing pristine vineyard management, late harvesting, and minimal cellar intervention. The estate is crowned by its holdings in the legendary Scharzhofberg vineyard, home to pre-phylloxera, ungrafted Riesling vines grown on steep, slate soils. Egon Müller is globally acclaimed for producing arguably the purest, most ageworthy, and aristocratic sweet Rieslings in existence, ranging from exquisite Spätlese and Auslese to mythical, auction-commanding Trockenbeerenauslese expressions.
