Hailing from the cool, wind-swept hills of the Aconcagua Costa, Errazuriz's 'Las Pizarras' Chardonnay represents a paradigm shift in Chilean white winemaking. The wine takes its name from the unique metamorphic slate ('pizarras') soils of the region, which are incredibly rare in Chile. Located just 12 kilometers from the Pacific Ocean, the vineyard benefits from the cooling influence of the Humboldt Current, allowing the Chardonnay grapes to ripen slowly while retaining brilliant natural acidity. Crafted under the guidance of winemaker Francisco Baettig, the grapes are hand-harvested and gently whole-cluster pressed before undergoing fermentation with native yeasts in French oak barrels. The resulting wine is a masterclass in tension, combining intense mineral drive, citrus blossom, and wet-stone notes with a beautifully integrated, textured palate derived from lees aging.
