Named in honor of Don Maximiano Errázuriz, the visionary founder who established the estate in 1870, the Max Merlot is a testament to the premier terroir of Chile's Aconcagua Valley. Grown in vineyards nestled between the towering Andes and the cool Pacific Ocean, the grapes benefit from a dramatic diurnal temperature swing. Cool afternoon breezes, known locally as the 'Aconcagua breeze', sweep through the valley to slow down ripening, allowing the Merlot to develop deep, complex red fruit flavors and soft, velvety tannins while maintaining refreshing acidity. The wine is aged in French oak barrels for approximately 12 months, seamlessly integrating subtle notes of toasted oak, vanilla, and sweet spices into its plush profile.
