Château de Beaucastel Rouge is an iconic representation of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation, celebrated for its unique philosophy of blending all thirteen permitted grape varieties. The estate's history dates back to 1549 when Pierre de Beaucastel purchased the property. The vineyard's terroir is defined by its signature 'galets roulés'—large, round stones that absorb the intense Provençal sun by day and radiate heat back to the vines at night, resting over a subsoil of clay, sand, and limestone. Unlike many of its neighbors, Beaucastel places a remarkably high emphasis on Mourvèdre, which provides structure, deep dark fruit, and exceptional aging potential. The winemaking process includes a unique flash-heating of the grape skins to extract color and soft tannins while eliminating harmful oxidases, followed by fermentation in traditional vessels and aging in large oak foudres to preserve the pure expression of the fruit and terroir.

🍾 wine.about_producer

Established in the southern Rhône Valley and closely tied to the legendary Château de Beaucastel since 1909, Famille Perrin is one of France's most respected winemaking dynasties. Under the visionary guidance of Jacques Perrin and subsequent generations, the family pioneered organic viticulture in 1950 and biodynamic farming in 1974. Based in Courthézon, they are celebrated for their masterful blending of all thirteen permitted Châteauneuf-du-Pape grape varieties, aging their wines in traditional large oak foudres to preserve purity and terroir. Their world-class portfolio ranges from the iconic, Mourvèdre-dominant Château de Beaucastel Hommage à Jacques Perrin to expressive regional selections like Les Sinards and La Gille.
