Hailing from the legendary terraced slopes of the Wachau, the F.X. Pichler Dürnsteiner Grüner Veltliner is a masterful expression of village-level terroir. The historic town of Dürnstein, famous for its blue-and-white church tower and the clifftop castle ruins where King Richard the Lionheart was once imprisoned, provides a dramatic backdrop for these vines. Grown on a complex mosaic of weathered primary rock and wind-blown loess soils, the grapes benefit from the dramatic diurnal temperature shifts created by the Danube River and cool breezes from the Waldviertel forest. Meticulously hand-harvested and fermented in a combination of stainless steel and traditional large oak casks, this wine captures the classic tension of the region, balancing vibrant acidity with a deep, stony minerality and the signature white pepper spice of the variety.

Established in 1898 in the village of Oberloiben within Austria's prestigious Wachau region, the F.X. Pichler estate is globally revered as a pinnacle of dry white wine production. Currently managed by Lucas Pichler, the winery crafts world-class Grüner Veltliner and Riesling from legendary, steep stone-terraced vineyards such as Kellerberg, Loibenberg, and Steinertal. The family's production philosophy focuses on meticulous hand-harvesting and precise cellar work, utilizing large, traditional oak casks to preserve the intense minerality and structural purity of their terroir. F.X. Pichler is celebrated for iconic, powerful expressions like the 'M' Grüner Veltliner and the monumental 'Unendlich' Riesling, which epitomize the depth and longevity of Wachau's finest wines.
