Hailing from the legendary Dürnsteiner Kellerberg, a steep, south-facing amphitheater of weathered Gföhl gneiss, this Smaragd represents the pinnacle of Wachau Grüner Veltliner. The vineyard's unique microclimate, where warm Pannonian winds meet cool air currents from the Waldviertel, yields grapes of extraordinary complexity and tension. F.X. Pichler meticulously hand-harvests these old vines, fermenting and aging the wine in large, neutral oak casks to preserve the intense mineral core. The result is a monumental white wine, combining rich textures of ripe stone fruit, white pepper, and smoky flint with a vibrant, laser-like acidity that reflects centuries of terraced viticulture history in the Danube valley.
