Freixenet's Carta Nevada Brut is a cornerstone of Spanish sparkling wine history, first introduced in 1941 in its iconic frosted bottle. Hailing from the heart of the Cava D.O. in Sant Sadurní d'Anoia, Catalonia, this sparkling wine is crafted using the traditional method (método tradicional). It relies on the classic trio of indigenous Catalan grapes: Macabeo, which provides sweetness and perfume; Xarel·lo, offering structure and acidity; and Parellada, imparting elegance and floral notes. The Ferrer family, who founded Freixenet, combined their deep agricultural roots with pioneering spirit, naming the brand after 'La Freixeneda,' their family estate. The Carta Nevada Brut represents a harmonious, approachable style of Cava, aged on its lees for up to 12 months to develop subtle yeasty complexity alongside its bright citrus and green apple fruit profile.

With roots reaching back to 1861 and officially established under its famous moniker in 1914, Freixenet was forged by the union of Pedro Ferrer Bosch and Dolores Sala Vivé in Sant Sadurní d'Anoia, the historic heart of Catalonia's sparkling wine region. Guided by Dolores's pioneering spirit in modern cellar management and traditional-method production, the house quickly evolved from a local family bodega into a benchmark global sparkling wine giant.
