Hailing from the heart of the Penedès region in Catalonia, Spain, Freixenet's Carta Rotina Semi Seco Rosado represents a vibrant celebration of the traditional method (Método Tradicional) sparkling winemaking. Freixenet, established by the union of the Ferrer and Sala families in Sant Sadurní d'Anoia, has been a pioneer in Cava production since the late 19th century. This medium-dry rosé Cava is typically crafted from a blend of Mediterranean red grapes, notably Trepat and Garnacha. Trepat, a native Catalan varietal, lends the wine its brilliant raspberry-pink hue and delicate wild berry aromas, while Garnacha adds body and ripe fruit notes. The 'Semi Seco' style incorporates a slightly higher dosage, creating a harmonious balance between luscious sweetness and refreshing acidity, aged on its lees to develop a soft, creamy mousse.

Freixenet trace its origins to 1914 in Sant Sadurní d'Anoia through the union of two established winegrowing dynasties—the Sala and Ferrer families—following roots traced back to Casa Sala in 1861. Anchored in the Penedès depression within Catalonia, the estate harnesses a Mediterranean microclimate marked by warm, sun-drenched days, cooling maritime sea breezes, and diverse alluvial, limestone, and clay soils. Freixenet built its reputation pioneering modern temperature-controlled stainless-steel fermentation and traditional method sparkling winemaking at scale, championing the classic Catalan triumvirate of Macabeo, Xarel·lo, and Parellada alongside select international cultivars.
