✨ Technical Specifications
Hailing from the heart of the Penedès region in Catalonia, Spain, Freixenet's Carta Rotina Semi Seco Rosado represents a vibrant celebration of the traditional method (Método Tradicional) sparkling winemaking. Freixenet, established by the union of the Ferrer and Sala families in Sant Sadurní d'Anoia, has been a pioneer in Cava production since the late 19th century. This medium-dry rosé Cava is typically crafted from a blend of Mediterranean red grapes, notably Trepat and Garnacha. Trepat, a native Catalan varietal, lends the wine its brilliant raspberry-pink hue and delicate wild berry aromas, while Garnacha adds body and ripe fruit notes. The 'Semi Seco' style incorporates a slightly higher dosage, creating a harmonious balance between luscious sweetness and refreshing acidity, aged on its lees to develop a soft, creamy mousse.
🍾 About the Producer
With roots reaching back to 1861 and officially established under its famous moniker in 1914, Freixenet was forged by the union of Pedro Ferrer Bosch and Dolores Sala Vivé in Sant Sadurní d'Anoia, the historic heart of Catalonia's sparkling wine region. Guided by Dolores's pioneering spirit in modern cellar management and traditional-method production, the house quickly evolved from a local family bodega into a benchmark global sparkling wine giant. Emphasizing regional terroir, Freixenet masterfully champions indigenous Catalan grape varieties—Macabeo, Xarel·lo, and Parellada—across its portfolio. The estate is globally celebrated for its crisp, balanced, and approachable sparklers, anchored by iconic cuvées such as the frosted-bottle Cordón Negro, the versatile Carta Nevada, and the prestige, traditionally crafted Casa Sala Gran Reserva.
