Born from the historic Castello di Nipozzano estate, whose name 'without a well' speaks to the dry, stony soils of Chianti Rufina, Mormoreto is the crown jewel of the Frescobaldi family's Tuscan-Bordeaux vision. First created in 1983 from a single vineyard planted in 1976, this wine takes its name from the whispering wind ('mormorio') that rustles through the vines. It is a powerful, elegant blend dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon, supported by Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Petit Verdot. The vines thrive in Alberese-rich clay-limestone soils at high elevations, yielding grapes of intense concentration. Aged for approximately two years in French oak barriques, Mormoreto marries the structure and black-fruit density of Cabernet with the refined, herbaceous complexity and vibrant acidity characteristic of its high-altitude Tuscan terroir.
