Hailing from the historic Castello di Pomino estate nestled in the cool, high-altitude Apennine foothills of Tuscany, Pomino Benefizio Riserva is a pioneering masterpiece. In 1716, Grand Duke Cosimo III de' Medici recognized Pomino as one of Tuscany's four greatest wine regions. Centuries later, in 1973, Benefizio made history as the first white wine in Italy to be fermented and aged in French oak barriques. Crafted entirely from Chardonnay grown at elevations reaching up to 700 meters, this elegant white benefits from dramatic diurnal temperature swings and mineral-rich sandy soils. The wine undergoes barrel fermentation and partial malolactic fermentation, followed by extensive aging on the fine lees with regular batonnage. The result is a highly sophisticated, structured white boasting notes of candied citrus, toasted hazelnut, vanilla, and white flowers, underpinned by a vibrant, mountain-born acidity.
