Hailing from the sun-drenched vineyards of the Pays d'Oc in southern France, Gabriel Meffre's 'Gabriel' Viognier is a vibrant celebration of one of the Rhône Valley's most legendary white grape varieties. Viognier itself has a dramatic history; once on the brink of extinction in the mid-20th century with only a few hectares remaining in Condrieu, it has undergone a spectacular global renaissance. In the Mediterranean-influenced terroirs of the Pays d'Oc, the grape thrives under warm, sunny days and cooling sea breezes, allowing it to develop its signature opulent aromatics while maintaining a refreshing acidity. Gabriel Meffre crafts this cuvée to emphasize pure varietal expression, utilizing gentle pneumatic pressing and temperature-controlled stainless steel fermentation to preserve the delicate floral and stone fruit notes without the heavy influence of oak. The result is an expressive, beautifully balanced white wine that captures the warmth and aromatic richness of the French South.
