Gérard Bertrand's 'An 1070' pays homage to the deep medieval history of the Languedoc, specifically referencing the ancient heritage of the Minervois region. This cuvée is crafted from a classic Southern French blend of Syrah, Carignan, and Grenache, grown on sun-drenched clay and limestone terraces. The vines are surrounded by the natural garrigue—wild thyme, rosemary, and lavender—which imparts a distinctive balsamic and herbal complexity to the grapes. Historically, the Minervois was a stronghold of the Cathars, and this wine captures that rugged, resilient spirit. Vinified with care and partially aged in French oak barrels, it delivers a rich profile of ripe blackberries, wild berries, pepper, and sweet spices, balanced by supple tannins and a smooth, elegant finish.
