Hailing from the legendary Nackenheimer Rothenberg vineyard, this Beerenauslese (BA) represents the pinnacle of sweet winemaking from the Gunderloch estate. The vineyard lies on the famous 'Roter Hang' (Red Slope), a steep cliff of 280-million-year-old red clay-slate that absorbs the reflection of the Rhine River, creating a unique microclimate. This historic site, acquired by founder Carl Gunderloch in 1890, yields Riesling of extraordinary power and mineral tension. For this rare Beerenauslese, highly skilled pickers meticulously hand-select individual grapes shriveled by noble rot (botrytis). The resulting wine is fermented slowly, preserving an exquisite balance between luscious, honeyed sweetness and a vibrant, electric acidity that prevents the wine from ever feeling heavy. It offers complex aromas of candied apricot, exotic spices, and crushed slate.
