Highland Park, established in 1798 by the legendary smuggler and vestryman Magnus Eunson, is situated on the windswept Orkney Islands off the far northern coast of Scotland. This remote, treeless archipelago profoundly shapes the unique character of their single malt. The distillery relies on local Orcadian peat harvested from Hobbister Moor, which is packed with decomposed heather rather than forest wood, imparting a distinctively sweet, floral, and gentle smoky character to the malt. Combined with traditional floor maltings and slow maturation in hand-selected, sherry-seasoned European and American oak casks, the Orkney Single Malt Vintage Releases showcase a harmonious balance of wild heather honey, rich dried fruits, warm winter spices, and aromatic peat smoke.

Highland Park blev grundlagt i 1798 i Kirkwall på det afsidesliggende Orkney-øhav og er et af Skotlands mest traditionsrige og nordligst beliggende single malt-destillerier. Destilleriet, som i dag er ejet af Edrington Group, værner kompromisløst om det klassiske whiskyhåndværk; her praktiserer man fortsat traditionel gulvmaltning med håndkraft og høster tæt, lyngmættet tørv fra den nærliggende Hobbister Moor. Modningen foregår primært på udsøgte sherrytilsmagte egetræsfade i Orkneys kølige, vindblæste kystklima.
