The Hospices de Beaune Savigny-lès-Beaune Premier Cru Cuvée Forneret is a historic red Burgundy crafted from select Premier Cru parcels in the commune of Savigny-lès-Beaune, including the esteemed Les Vergelesses and Les Gravains climats. This cuvée honors the legacy of the Forneret family, prominent local benefactors who made substantial donations to the Hospices in the mid-19th century. The wine is celebrated for its elegant expression of Pinot Noir, showcasing the unique clay-limestone soils of Savigny-lès-Beaune. Traditionally vinified under the watchful eye of the Hospices' régisseur, the wine undergoes fermentation in open-top vats before being sold at the famous November auction, after which it is aged in oak casks by selected négociants-éleveurs. It typically displays vibrant red berry fruit, earthy undertones, and a refined, structured minerality characteristic of its Premier Cru origins.

Founded in 1443 by Nicolas Rolin, Chancellor of Burgundy, and his wife Guigone de Salins, the Hospices de Beaune is a historic charitable institution and wine estate located in Beaune, France. Over the centuries, generous donations of prestigious vineyard parcels have amassed an extraordinary 60-hectare estate, primarily consisting of Grand Cru and Premier Cru climats across the Côte de Beaune and Côte de Nuits. Under the precise direction of régisseur Ludivine Griveau, the estate meticulously crafts exceptional red Pinot Noir and white Chardonnay wines, which are famously sold at the annual charity auction on the third Sunday of November. These highly coveted cuvées, such as the Cuvee Nicolas Rolin and Cuvee Charlotte Dumay, represent the pinnacle of Burgundian terroir and philanthropic tradition, aged in oak casks before being completed by selected négociants-éleveurs of the region.
