The Cuvée Maurice Drouhin is a historic Beaune Premier Cru red wine offered by the Hospices de Beaune. This exceptional cuvée is named in honor of Maurice Drouhin, a highly influential figure in Burgundy who served as the administrator of the Hospices de Beaune and founded the renowned Maison Joseph Drouhin. In the mid-20th century, Drouhin generously donated prime parcels of Beaune Premier Cru vineyards to the charity. The blend is sourced from highly regarded climats, including Les Bressandes, Les Grèves, Les Avaux, and Champimonts. This wine beautifully showcases the classic Beaune terroir, offering a harmonious balance of bright red berry fruit, earthy complexity, and elegant, silky tannins. Following the historic charity auction on the third Sunday of November, the wine is traditionally raised in oak casks by a selected négociant-éleveur, preserving its profound sense of place and philanthropic heritage.

Founded in 1443 by Nicolas Rolin, Chancellor of Burgundy, and his wife Guigone de Salins, the Hospices de Beaune is a historic charitable institution and wine estate located in Beaune, France. Over the centuries, generous donations of prestigious vineyard parcels have amassed an extraordinary 60-hectare estate, primarily consisting of Grand Cru and Premier Cru climats across the Côte de Beaune and Côte de Nuits. Under the precise direction of régisseur Ludivine Griveau, the estate meticulously crafts exceptional red Pinot Noir and white Chardonnay wines, which are famously sold at the annual charity auction on the third Sunday of November. These highly coveted cuvées, such as the Cuvee Nicolas Rolin and Cuvee Charlotte Dumay, represent the pinnacle of Burgundian terroir and philanthropic tradition, aged in oak casks before being completed by selected négociants-éleveurs of the region.
