Named in honor of the visionary Chancellor of Burgundy who founded the Hospices de Beaune in 1443, the Cuvée Nicolas Rolin is a historic masterpiece of the Beaune appellation. This prestigious red Premier Cru is crafted from a meticulous selection of old vines situated in some of Beaune's finest climats, including Les Bressandes, Les Grèves, and Les Cent-Vignes. These clay-limestone slopes yield a Pinot Noir of remarkable depth and structure. Traditionally, the wine is auctioned in barrel on the third Sunday of November, after which it is entrusted to selected négociants-éleveurs for patient oak aging. The resulting wine beautifully balances the earthy soul of Beaune with a refined, velvety texture and vibrant red fruit character, serving as a liquid testament to centuries of Burgundian charity and winemaking excellence.

Founded in 1443 by Nicolas Rolin, Chancellor to the Duke of Burgundy, and his wife Guigone de Salins, the Hospices de Beaune was established as a charitable hospital supported by donations of prime vineyard parcels. Today, the historic estate encompasses over 60 hectares of exceptionally situated Premier and Grand Cru vineyards across Burgundy's Côte de Beaune and Côte de Nuits. Revered worldwide for its historic charity wine auction held every November since 1859, the domaine employs meticulous, organic viticultural techniques to highlight the uncompromised terroir of each plot. Its celebrated portfolio consists of distinguished Pinot Noir and Chardonnay cuvées, each named in honor of prominent historical benefactors such as Cuvée Nicolas Rolin and Cuvée Charlotte Dumay.
