Jacques Selosse's Blanc de Blancs Brut represents a paradigm shift in the history of Champagne. Sourced from the legendary chalk soils of Côte des Blancs Grand Crus—primarily Avize, Cramant, and Oger—this cuvée is a testament to Anselme Selosse's revolutionary vision. Returning to the estate in 1974 after studying in Burgundy, Anselme rejected industrial methods, pioneering organic viticulture, exceptionally low yields, and wood fermentation. Rather than striving for a uniform house style, this Blanc de Blancs embraces vintage variation and terroir specificity. Aged in oak casks with active battonage and bottled with minimal dosage, it delivers a deeply vinous, oxidative, and intensely mineral-driven profile. It is a historic wine that single-handedly ignited the grower Champagne movement, offering a profound, structured expression of pure Chardonnay.

🍾 wine.about_producer

Founded in 1949 in the Grand Cru village of Avize, Champagne Jacques Selosse rose to legendary status under the visionary leadership of Anselme Selosse, who took over the estate in 1974. Applying Burgundian winemaking philosophies to the Côte des Blancs, Anselme pioneered low yields, organic viticulture, and fermentation in oak casks, fundamentally transforming modern Champagne production. The estate is celebrated for its highly individualistic, terroir-driven cuvées, including the solera-aged Substance and the acclaimed Lieux-dits series, which showcase an unparalleled depth, oxidative complexity, and vinous character.
