Jacques Selosse's Millésime is a monumental expression of vintage Champagne, crafted only in exceptional years. Unlike conventional houses that strive for a consistent house style, Anselme Selosse embraces the natural variations of each growing season, treating the Millésime as a unique historical document of the year. Sourced from two prized Grand Cru Chardonnay parcels in Avize—Les Chantereines and Les Maronniers—the wine is fermented in oak barrels using indigenous yeasts and aged on its fine lees for nearly a decade before disgorgement. This meticulous, low-intervention approach yields a Champagne of breathtaking complexity, characterized by its deep golden hue, oxidative complexity, vibrant minerality, and a vinous structure that challenges the traditional boundaries of sparkling wine.

🍾 wine.about_producer

Founded in 1949 in the Grand Cru village of Avize, Champagne Jacques Selosse rose to legendary status under the visionary leadership of Anselme Selosse, who took over the estate in 1974. Applying Burgundian winemaking philosophies to the Côte des Blancs, Anselme pioneered low yields, organic viticulture, and fermentation in oak casks, fundamentally transforming modern Champagne production. The estate is celebrated for its highly individualistic, terroir-driven cuvées, including the solera-aged Substance and the acclaimed Lieux-dits series, which showcase an unparalleled depth, oxidative complexity, and vinous character.
