✨ Technical Specifications
Julian Haart's Pinot Noir is a rare and highly coveted red expression from an estate globally revered for its white Rieslings. Sourced from cool-climate, steep slate slopes of the Mosel, this wine represents a contemporary renaissance of German Spätburgunder. Haart, who honed his skills under legends like Klaus Peter Keller, applies the same obsessive, low-intervention craftsmanship to his red wines. The grapes are fermented spontaneously, often utilizing a portion of whole clusters to enhance aromatic complexity, and aged in neutral French oak barrels to preserve the delicate, high-toned red fruit and intense mineral tension characteristic of Mosel's unique terroir.
🍾 About the Producer
Established in 2010 by Julian Haart alongside his wife Nadine, Weingut Julian Haart has rapidly emerged as one of the Mosel's most revered artisan domains. Born into a multi-century Piesport winegrowing lineage, Julian refined his craft through pivotal apprenticeships under icons Egon Müller, Klaus Peter Keller, and Werner Schönleber. The estate farms approximately five hectares, centering on vertigo-inducing, blue-slate Grand Cru terraces in the Mosel—notably Wintricher Ohligsberg and Piesporter Goldtröpfchen—alongside prestigious limestone parcels in Rheinhessen obtained through parcel exchanges with Keller. Viticulture relies entirely on meticulous manual labor without synthetic inputs, preserving ungrafted, century-old vines. In the cellar, Haart practices spontaneous fermentation in traditional neutral wooden Fuder and stainless steel with minimal intervention. The resulting Rieslings, ranging from razor-sharp dry Kalkstein and site bottlings to ethereal Kabinetts, display crystalline precision, saline tension, filigreed sweetness, and profound slate-driven minerality.
