Julian Haart's Schiefer Riesling is a masterful tribute to the steep, Devonian slate slopes of the Mosel Valley. Sourced from estate-grown vineyards in and around the historic village of Piesport, this wine captures the essence of the region's dramatic terroir. Haart, who honed his craft under legendary mentors Klaus Peter Keller and Egon Müller, applies the same meticulous, low-intervention philosophy to this estate bottling as he does to his grand crus. Spontaneously fermented in a mix of stainless steel and traditional oak Fuder, the wine showcases the classic tension between vibrant, electric acidity and a deep, smoky minerality. It is a pure expression of Mosel heritage, where winemaking on these near-vertical cliffs dates back to Roman times, relying on the slate soils to absorb daytime heat and sustain the vines through cool nights.

Weingut Julian Haart blev grundlagt i 2010 af Julian og Nadine Haart og ligger i den historiske landsby Piesport i Mittelmosel. Julian finpudsede sit håndværk hos ikoniske mestre som Klaus Peter Keller og Egon Müller, og han etablerede hurtigt sin lille boutique-ejendom som en af Tysklands mest feterede moderne kultproducenter. Vingården arbejder på eftertragtede, stejle skiferparceller – herunder Piesporter Goldtröpfchen, Wintricher Ohligsberg og de legendariske, uforædlede vinstokke på Schubertslay – hvor kompromisløs markpleje og minimal indgriben i kælderen er i højsædet. Julian Haart er verdensberømt for sine krystalklare, spændstige Rieslinger og raffinerede Pinot Noir-vine, der forener enestående præcision med elektrisk syre og en dyb, terroirdreven mineralitet.
