The Wintricher Ohligsberg is a legendary steep-slope vineyard situated along a dramatic loop of the Mosel River. Renowned since the 19th century, when it was classified among the region's top-tier sites, its terroir is defined by weathered blue and grey slate soils with excellent water retention. From this spectacular grand cru site, Julian Haart crafts his 'Alte Reben' (old vines) Kabinett using fruit from ancient, deep-rooted vines. These old vines yield tiny, highly concentrated berries that capture the pure essence of the slate. Haart's winemaking philosophy emphasizes minimal intervention, allowing spontaneous fermentation to preserve the natural tension, vibrant acidity, and crystalline minerality of the fruit. The resulting wine is a masterclass in the classic Mosel Kabinett style—feather-light, electric, and dancing with a delicate balance of sweetness and saline minerality.
