Established in 2005 by the King Car Group in Yilan County, Taiwan, Kavalan Distillery is the pioneer of Taiwanese single malt whisky. Named after the indigenous people who originally inhabited the Yilan Plain, the distillery utilizes the pristine, mineral-rich meltwaters of the nearby Snow Mountain range. Kavalan's production philosophy leverages Taiwan's intense subtropical climate, which accelerates the wood extraction process to achieve complex, mature flavor profiles in a fraction of the time required in cooler climates.
