✨ Technical Specifications
Hailing from the sun-drenched, terraced hills of Goriska Brda, often referred to as the Slovenian Tuscany, the Quercus Selekcija Rdeca Zvrst is a beautiful testament to Klet Brda's mastery of blending. The name Quercus pays homage to the native oak trees that dot this picturesque landscape. This red blend is grown in the region's unique opoka soil, a mineral-rich layered marl and sandstone, which imparts a distinct mineral complexity and elegant structure to the wine. Benefiting from a unique microclimate where cool Alpine winds clash with warm Mediterranean breezes from the Adriatic Sea, the grapes develop intense aromatic profiles while retaining vibrant acidity. This classic blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon undergoes careful maceration and aging, resulting in a harmonious, medium-bodied red characterized by ripe forest fruits, subtle plum notes, and a touch of soft spice.
🍾 About the Producer
Established in 1957 as a cooperative uniting local winegrowing families, Klet Brda is the leading wine producer in the picturesque Goriška Brda region of western Slovenia, situated between the Alps and the Adriatic Sea. Working with hundreds of multi-generational families who tend steep, terraced vineyards planted on distinctive flysch and sandstone soils known locally as 'opoka', the winery seamlessly merges centuries of viticultural tradition with state-of-the-art cellar techniques. The estate is celebrated for its diverse portfolio spanning crisp sparkling wines, vibrant whites, and structured reds, with particular distinction in indigenous and regional varieties such as Rebula (Ribolla Gialla) and Sauvignonasse alongside international mainstays across acclaimed collections like the fresh, fruit-forward Quercus line.
