The Hochheimer Hölle 'Terrasse' Riesling Trocken is a spectacular expression of one of the Rheingau's most famous vineyards. The name 'Hölle' does not translate to 'hell' but rather derives from the Middle High German word 'Halde,' meaning a steep slope. This specific 'Terrasse' bottling comes from a prized, steeply terraced parcel within the vineyard, where the vines benefit from optimal sun exposure and the warming influence of the nearby Main River. The soils here are a rich mixture of clay, loess, and gravelly sand, which imbue the wine with a powerful structure, intense stone fruit aromas, and a profound, salty minerality. Weingut Künstler utilizes traditional winemaking techniques, including gentle pressing and slow fermentation in large, neutral oak casks, to preserve the pristine character of the fruit while enhancing its texture and longevity.

Re-established in 1965 by Franz Künstler in Hochheim am Main, Weingut Künstler carries forward a family winemaking heritage dating back to 1648 in Moravia. Today, under the stewardship of Gunter Künstler, who took over in 1992, the estate has risen to become one of the Rheingau's most celebrated producers and a prominent member of the VDP. The winery is renowned for its meticulous management of legendary Erste and Grosse Lage vineyards, such as Hochheimer Hölle and Kirchenstück.
