This exceptionally rare 21-year-old single malt from the legendary Lagavulin Distillery on the south coast of Islay represents the pinnacle of slow maturation in selected European oak casks. Lagavulin is famous for having the slowest distillation process of any Islay distillery, utilizing pear-shaped stills that maximize copper contact to create a clean yet deeply complex spirit. Over more than two decades of quiet slumber in warehouses battered by the salty Atlantic winds of Lagavulin Bay, the aggressive, medicinal peat smoke of the young spirit has been masterfully tamed. The European oak casks infuse the whisky with rich, dark dried fruits, Christmas cake spices, and dark chocolate, seamlessly weaving these notes with the distillery's signature maritime brine and elegant, smoldering peat smoke.
