Laphroaig, founded in 1815 by the Johnston brothers, is world-renowned for its uncompromisingly smoky, medicinal, and maritime character. This profile is born from Islay's unique peat, rich in decomposed moss and seaweed, which is used to dry the malted barley. Over its 16 years of maturation, the fierce, medicinal peat smoke of youth has beautifully integrated with oak, yielding a complex spirit where intense peat, brine, and iodine harmonize with rich vanilla sweetness, charred oak, and subtle citrus notes.
