Other Spirit wine.year 📍 Islay, Scotland

⏳ wine.drinking_window

As a distilled spirit, this whisky does not mature further in the bottle and is ready to be enjoyed immediately upon release. Unopened bottles will preserve their exceptional quality indefinitely when stored upright in a cool, dark place, while opened bottles are best consumed within 1 to 2 years to prevent oxidation from fading the delicate aromas.

Rich blue cheeses such as Stilton or Roquefort, premium dark chocolate with a high cocoa percentage, and traditional cold-smoked wild salmon.

✨ wine.spec_sheet

Laphroaig, founded in 1815 by brothers Donald and Alexander Johnston on the rugged south coast of Islay, is legendary for its uncompromisingly smoky and medicinal single malt Scotch whisky. The 25-Year-Old Cask Strength expression represents a pinnacle of maturation, marrying whiskies aged in second-fill European oak Oloroso sherry casks and American oak ex-bourbon barrels. The distillery's unique terroir is defined by the Glenmachrie peat bogs, which provide the soft, peaty water and the hand-cut peat used to dry the malted barley. This peat, rich in sphagnum moss, heather, and seaweed, imparts the signature iodine, woodsmoke, and sea-spray notes. Over a quarter-century of slumber in dunnage warehouses battered by Atlantic gales, the aggressive peat of youth mellows into a sublime complexity, beautifully balancing intense peat smoke with rich dried fruits, sweet vanilla, and warming oak spices.

🍾 wine.about_producer

Established in 1815 by brothers Donald and Alexander Johnston, Laphroaig Distillery is situated on the rugged south coast of the Isle of Islay, Scotland. Celebrated globally for its distinctively bold, peaty, and medicinal character, the distillery remains one of the few that still utilizes traditional floor maltings to dry its barley over local, hand-cut Islay peat. This artisanal heritage, paired with distillation in unique copper pot stills and maturation primarily in first-fill ex-bourbon casks, defines its legendary portfolio, which includes the iconic 10 Year Old, Quarter Cask, and highly coveted aged limited editions.
