β¨ Technical Specifications
Finca Las Moras's Barrel Select Syrah is a testament to the San Juan region's ability to produce world-class Syrah. Nestled in the high-altitude desert valleys of Tulum and Zonda, the vines are irrigated by pure Andean snowmelt and bathed in intense, high-altitude sunlight. This extreme climate, characterized by hot days and cool mountain nights, allows the Syrah grapes to develop thick skins, deep color, and intense aromatic complexity. The 'Barrel Select' designation highlights a careful selection of fruit that undergoes fermentation in stainless steel before being aged in a combination of French and American oak barrels for approximately 12 months. This process softens the grape's natural tannins and infuses the wine with subtle notes of vanilla, toast, and sweet spice, complementing its core of dark berry fruit and signature black pepper.
πΎ About the Producer
Established in the 1990s in San Juan, Argentina, Finca Las Moras emerged as an essential pioneer in reshaping the region's viticultural landscape across the Tulum, Zonda, and Pedernal Valleys. Now part of the Grupo PeΓ±aflor family, the winery takes its name from the native blackberry trees that frame its high-altitude vineyards tucked against the Andes Mountains. Finca Las Moras is celebrated for its innovative and sustainable approach to winemaking, focusing heavily on unlocking the regional potential of Syrah alongside classic Argentine staples like Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, and aromatic whites such as Viognier and Sauvignon Blanc. From the accessible and fruit-driven Intis line to complex, terroir-focused reserves, their wines showcase the intense sunshine, mineral-rich soils, and vibrant fruit purity characteristic of San Juan.
