✨ Technical Specifications
Hailing from the prestigious Côte du Py, an extinct volcano in the heart of the Morgon appellation, this wine represents a pinnacle of Beaujolais. Produced by Château des Jacques, which was acquired by Maison Louis Jadot in 1996, this cuvée benefits from a unique terroir dominated by 'roche bleue'—a decomposed blue schist and manganese-rich soil. Unlike typical light Beaujolais, Château des Jacques applies traditional Burgundian vinification techniques here, including destemming, long maceration, and aging in French oak barrels from Jadot's Cadus cooperage. This results in a structured, deeply concentrated Gamay that famously 'pinots' as it ages, developing complex notes of dark cherries, forest floor, and sweet spices that rival fine Burgundy.
🍾 About the Producer
Founded in 1859 by Louis Henry Denis Jadot in the historic heart of Beaune, Maison Louis Jadot has grown to become one of Burgundy's most respected and comprehensive wine houses. With an expansive vineyard footprint spanning the Côte d'Or, Chablis, the Côte Chalonnaise, the Mâconnais, and Beaujolais, the domaine pairs long-held artisanal traditions with meticulous vinification practices. Dedicated to terroir transparency, Jadot champions natural yeasts, subtle oak integration, and minimal intervention to allow each climat to express its authentic voice. Renowned for its iconic Bacchus-head label, the house produces an esteemed range of site-specific Pinot Noir and Chardonnay wines, ranging from accessible regional appellations to legendary Grand Crus.
