This exceptional Grand Cru bottling represents a historic partnership between the charitable Hospices de Beaune and the venerable house of Louis Jadot, who meticulously ages and bottles this prestigious cuvée. The wine originates from a prized donation made in 1976 by Madeleine Collignon, featuring old vines in the legendary Mazis-Chambertin appellation of the Côte de Nuits. Crafted entirely from Pinot Noir, this wine reflects the deep, iron-rich clay and limestone soils of the northern Gevrey-Chambertin slope, yielding a muscular, structured, and profoundly complex red Burgundy. Traditional vinification in open wooden vats followed by long aging in French oak barrels imparts remarkable depth, velvety tannins, and signature notes of dark wild berries, forest floor, leather, and exotic spices.
