✨ Technical Specifications
The Hospices de Beaune Corton-Vergennes Grand Cru 'Cuvée Paul Chanson', meticulously elevated and bottled by Maison Louis Jadot, is a white Burgundy of immense pedigree. Paul Chanson, a distinguished Beaune négociant and passionate defender of Burgundy's traditional viticulture, bequeathed his prized parcel of Corton-Vergennes to the Hospices de Beaune in 1974. Uniquely, Chanson insisted that this specific plot remain planted exclusively to Chardonnay, despite the hill of Corton being overwhelmingly famous for its red Pinot Noir. Raised with care in Louis Jadot's cellars, this Grand Cru showcases the profound power and mineral complexity of the Corton hill, offering a rich, structured profile with intense notes of yellow orchard fruits, toasted hazelnuts, and crushed limestone.
🍾 About the Producer
Established in 1859 by Louis Henry Denis Jadot—following the Jadot family's 1826 acquisition of the benchmark Beaune Premier Cru Clos des Ursules—Maison Louis Jadot stands as one of Burgundy's defining houses. Today, the estate spans over 200 hectares of owned vineyards across the Côte d'Or, Beaujolais (Château des Jacques), and the Mâconnais (Domaine Ferret), complemented by historic négociant partnerships. Led vinously by Technical Director Frédéric Barnier following Jacques Lardière's legendary 42-year tenure, the cellar employs an ethos of minimal intervention: utilizing native yeast fermentations, extended macerations, and judicious, restrained new oak aging tailored to highlight each distinct climat. Spanning village terroirs up to coveted Grand Cru climats across limestone and clay-rich slopes, Jadot's benchmark expressions include Beaune Premier Cru Clos des Ursules (monopole), Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru, Chevalier-Montrachet Les Demoiselles, and Musigny, each crafted to achieve immense ageability, structural purity, and site transparency.
