In 1979, seeking to expand beyond the geographic and financial constraints of Burgundy, Maison Louis Latour turned its attention to the sun-drenched hills of the Ardèche region in the south of France. Discovering clay-limestone soils remarkably similar to those of the Côte d'Or, they embarked on a pioneering mission to plant Chardonnay. The 'Grand Ardèche' is crafted using traditional Burgundian techniques: the grapes are fermented and aged for approximately 10 months in oak barrels crafted at Latour's own cooperage in Beaune. This creates a wine of remarkable richness and elegance, bridging the gap between southern warmth and Burgundian structure, characterized by notes of toasted brioche, ripe peach, and vanilla.

Founded in 1797, Maison Louis Latour is a historic family-owned estate and négociant based in Beaune, Burgundy, with a heritage spanning over two centuries. The house is celebrated for owning the largest Grand Cru acreage in the Côte d'Or, particularly on the legendary hill of Corton, where they produce iconic wines like Corton-Charlemagne and Château Corton Grancey. Combining traditional Burgundian winemaking with pioneering sustainable viticulture, Louis Latour has also expanded its expertise to the Ardèche and Var regions to craft exceptional, terroir-driven Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs. Their signature style emphasizes elegance, structure, and balance, making them one of Burgundy's most respected and enduring names.
