In 1979, looking to expand beyond the increasingly scarce and expensive slopes of Burgundy, Maison Louis Latour pioneered Chardonnay plantings in the Ardèche region of the Rhône valley. Drawn to the area's clay and limestone soils, which closely mirror the prized terroir of the Côte d'Or, Latour established a highly successful outpost. This wine is crafted using traditional Burgundian methods, where the grapes are harvested at optimal ripeness, and the wine is fermented and aged in oak barrels produced at Latour's own cooperage in Beaune. This historic venture proved that world-class, buttery, and structured Chardonnay could thrive in the sun-drenched hills of the Ardèche, offering a beautiful bridge between Southern French warmth and Burgundian refinement.

Founded in 1797 and rooted in Aloxe-Corton since the 17th century, Maison Louis Latour is one of Burgundy's most historic family-owned wine merchants and domaine producers, managed across more than eleven generations.
