✨ Technical Specifications
While Maison Louis Latour is synonymous with Burgundy, their pioneering spirit led them to the Ardèche region, bordering the Rhône, in the late 20th century. Recognizing the potential of the local clay-limestone soils and Mediterranean climate, they established vineyards to craft expressive, accessible varietal wines. This Viognier is a testament to that vision. Grown on sun-drenched hillsides, the grapes are harvested at peak ripeness and fermented entirely in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks to preserve the grape's naturally intense, exotic aromatics. The resulting wine is beautifully aromatic, showcasing classic notes of white peach, apricot, and honeysuckle, balanced by a fresh, rounded finish that avoids the heavy oiliness sometimes associated with the grape.
🍾 About the Producer
Established in 1797, Maison Louis Latour stands as one of Burgundy's most historically prominent family-owned négociant-éleveurs and domaine estates, boasting the largest portfolio of Grand Cru vineyards in the Côte d'Or. Anchored on the limestone-rich, south and southeast-facing slopes of the Corton hill, Latour vinifies fruit at the landmark gravity-fed Cuverie Corton Grancey in Aloxe-Corton. Viticulture adheres to rigorous lutte raisonnée principles, integrating biological pest control, in-house composting, and zero synthetic fertilizers alongside an ISO 14001 certification. White vinification emphasizes pure, mineral-driven expression through temperature-controlled stainless steel fermentation and judicious aging in French oak crafted at the house's Savigny-lès-Beaune cooperage, while reds emphasize structured, classic extraction. Beyond iconic Côte d'Or pinnacles such as Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru, Château Corton Grancey, and Romanée-Saint-Vivant 'Les Quatre Journaux', Latour has famously pioneered southern terroir projects in the clay-limestone soils of the Ardèche and the higher altitudes of the Var.
