M. Chapoutier's Ermitage 'De l'Orée' is a monumental white Hermitage born from ancient Marsanne vines, some over 70 years old, planted in the 'Les Murets' lieu-dit. The name 'De l'Orée' translates to 'at the edge of the forest,' referencing the vineyard's location. This single-vineyard selection (sélection parcellaire) is a masterclass in biodynamic viticulture and terroir expression. The soils are composed of fluvioglacial alluvial deposits with abundant pebbles and clay, giving the wine its signature mineral core. Vinified in demi-muids and aged on its fine lees with regular stirring (bâtonnage) for up to a year, this white Hermitage is celebrated for its extraordinary aromatic complexity, featuring notes of honeysuckle, ripe peach, toasted almonds, and wet stones, backed by a luxurious, oily texture and remarkable freshness.
