✨ Technical Specifications

Crafted by the pioneering biodynamic producer M. Chapoutier, La Combe Pilate Blanc is a striking monovarietal Viognier grown in the Collines Rhodaniennes IGP of the Northern Rhone. The wine's name is steeped in local history and lore, referencing Pontius Pilate, who according to regional legend was exiled to the nearby ancient city of Vienne. Grown on steep, granite-rich slopes that echo the prestigious terroir of neighboring Condrieu, the grapes undergo careful vinification with a portion aged on fine lees in oak foudres to enhance texture. This thoughtful process preserves Viognier's signature opulent aromatics of apricot, white peach, and bergamot, while maintaining a precise, stony minerality and a remarkably fresh finish.

🍾 About the Producer

Founded in 1808 in Tain-l'Hermitage in the Rhône Valley, M. Chapoutier has grown into one of France's most celebrated wine houses, propelled to international acclaim following Michel Chapoutier's visionary leadership in 1990. A pioneer in biodynamic viticulture and minimal-intervention winemaking, the estate is revered for its single-vineyard 'sélections parcellaires' that articulate the purest nuances of individual terroirs across the Rhône and beyond. Iconic for incorporating Braille script on every label since 1996, Chapoutier produces benchmark expressions of Syrah, Marsanne, and Grenache across prestigious appellations including Hermitage, Côte-Rôtie, and Châteauneuf-du-Pape.
