M. Chapoutier's 'Sicamor' is a distinguished expression of Crozes-Hermitage, crafted entirely from Syrah. The name 'Sicamor' evokes the ancient sycamore trees that dot the Rhône landscape, symbolizing strength and deep roots. This cuvée is born from the diverse terroirs of the appellation, combining granitic slopes that impart structure and minerality with alluvial terraces that offer plush, dark fruit. Michel Chapoutier, a pioneer of biodynamic viticulture, ensures the wine is crafted with minimal intervention. The grapes are destemmed and fermented in concrete tanks, followed by aging in a combination of oak barrels and concrete vats to preserve the vibrant, peppery character of Northern Rhône Syrah while softening its tannins. The label features Chapoutier's signature Braille, a tribute to Maurice de La Sizeranne, the blind historic figure who owned the land where some of Chapoutier's vineyards now sit.
