✨ Technical Specifications
Marchand-Tawse's Grand Cru white wines, most notably their esteemed Corton-Charlemagne, represent the absolute zenith of Chardonnay from Burgundy's historic slopes. Under the guidance of winemaker Pascal Marchand, these wines are crafted from meticulously farmed biodynamic parcels where the limestone-dominant soils impart a profound mineral tension. Historically, the legendary hill of Corton was planted with white grapes at the behest of Emperor Charlemagne's wife, who preferred white wine to prevent red stains on her husband's beard. In the cellar, Marchand-Tawse employs traditional Burgundian techniques: wild fermentations, gentle lees stirring, and patient aging in French oak barrels. The resulting Grand Cru whites are masterpieces of power and elegance, balancing rich stone fruit, toasted brioche, and hazelnut notes with a laser-like, flinty acidity.
