✨ Technical Specifications

Markus Molitor's Brauneberger Mandelgraben Riesling Eiswein is a rare liquid masterpiece born from the extreme viticultural conditions of the Mosel valley. The Mandelgraben vineyard, named after the almond trees that thrive in this sheltered microclimate, features steep slopes rich in weathered Devonian slate. To produce this Eiswein, grapes are left on the vine into the freezing depths of winter, waiting for temperatures to plummet to at least -7 degrees Celsius. Harvested by hand in the freezing pre-dawn hours, the frozen grapes are immediately pressed, leaving the water behind as ice and extracting a highly concentrated, nectar-like juice. Molitor's signature style—relying on natural ambient yeasts and meticulous selection—preserves the electric, vibrant acidity of Riesling, balancing the intense natural sweetness. This creates a wine of breathtaking tension, purity, and mineral complexity, representing the pinnacle of German sweet winemaking heritage.

🍾 About the Producer

Founded upon an eighth-generation family viticultural heritage, Weingut Markus Molitor was transformed in 1984 when twenty-year-old Markus Molitor took over the estate at Haus Klosterberg with the dedicated mission of restoring Mosel Riesling to its historic world-class stature. Situated in Bernkastel-Kues in Germany's legendary Mosel region, the winery meticulously cultivates precipitous slate vineyards across renowned grand cru sites such as Zeltinger Sonnenuhr, Wehlener Sonnenuhr, and Erdener Treppchen. Molitor practices low yields, ultra-selective late hand-harvesting, and gentle spontaneous fermentation in ancient, deep vaulted cellars with minimal intervention. The estate is globally celebrated for its site-expressive Rieslings—distinguished by white, green, and gold capsules indicating dry, off-dry, and botrytized sweet styles—as well as remarkably complex, structured Pinot Noir.
