Markus Molitor's Ockfener Bockstein Riesling Auslese 2** White Capsule is a masterclass in dry Mosel Riesling. Hailing from the steep, amphitheater-like slopes of the Ockfener Bockstein in the Saar side-valley, this wine benefits from Devonian slate soils and a cool microclimate that preserves razor-sharp acidity. The Bockstein vineyard has been celebrated for centuries, once supplying wines to European nobility. Markus Molitor utilizes a unique capsule color-coding system, where the white capsule denotes a dry style. The 'two stars' represent a rigorous selection of highly concentrated, partially botrytized grapes, harvested late in the season. Fermented with wild yeasts in large, neutral oak casks (Fuder), this wine combines the opulent richness and concentration of an Auslese with a bone-dry, mineral-driven finish, showcasing smoky slate notes, ripe stone fruits, and a tension-filled structure.
