Marqu es de Riscal, established in 1858, is a legendary pioneer of Rioja, famously introducing Bordeaux winemaking techniques to the region. Tapias (sourced from the historic Las Tapias vineyard) represents a modern pinnacle of this heritageโa single-vineyard red from Elciego in Rioja Alavesa. Planted on gravelly, calcareous clay terraces, the vineyard contains old-vine Tempranillo propagated via massal selection, occasionally complemented by a touch of Graciano. This wine pays homage to the estate's 19th-century roots, combining traditional elegance with contemporary precision. It undergoes fermentation in oak vats followed by aging in fine French oak barrels, yielding a deep, structured, and intensely aromatic wine that captures the essence of Elciego's unique terroir.
