✨ Technical Specifications

Deep in the heart of Valpolicella Classica, the Boscaini family of Masi has perfected the ancient art of Appassimento. The name 'Costasera' refers to the prized vineyard slopes facing the sunset, where the gentle breezes and reflected light from Lake Garda create an ideal microclimate for ripening. For this prestigious Riserva, the traditional Amarone blend of Corvina, Rondinella, and Molinara is enriched with Oseleta, an ancient, deeply structured grape variety that Masi famously rescued from extinction. The hand-selected grapes undergo a patient drying process on traditional bamboo racks ('arele') throughout the winter months, concentrating their sugars, acids, and aromas before a long, slow fermentation and extensive aging in oak casks. This produces a majestic Amarone of unparalleled complexity, boasting notes of dark cocoa, dried plums, and warm baking spices.

🍾 About the Producer

Established in 1772 when the Boscaini family acquired premium vineyards in the small valley named 'Vaio dei Masi', Masi Agricola has grown into one of the most iconic and respected estates in Veneto's Valpolicella Classica zone. Managed for generations by the Boscaini family, the winery has become globally renowned for championing and modernizing the traditional appassimento method, transforming indigenous grapes such as Corvina, Rondinella, and Molinara into rich, age-worthy masterpieces. In addition to creating the revolutionary 'Supervenetian' Campofiorin in the 1960s and collaborating with the historic Serego Alighieri counts, Masi is celebrated worldwide for its benchmark Amarone della Valpolicella expressions, including the prestigious Costasera, Mazzano, and Campolongo di Torbe.
