Masi's 'Toar' is a revolutionary Valpolicella Classico Superiore that tells a story of viticultural resurrection. Its name derives from the local dialect word for the volcanic tufa soils of its hillside vineyards in the Veneto region. Unlike many of Masi's famous wines that rely on the semi-dried grape appassimento technique, Toar is crafted from fresh grapes, showcasing a unique blend of Corvina, Rondinella, and the rare, ancient grape variety Oseleta. Thought to be extinct after the phylloxera epidemic due to its low yields, Oseleta was rediscovered and championed by Masi in the 1980s. This thick-skinned grape imparts an unusually deep color, robust tannins, and a firm structure to the blend, beautifully balancing the bright cherry fruit and herbal elegance of the Corvina. Aged in oak casks, Toar represents a modern interpretation of Valpolicella that honors the volcanic terroir and lost heritage of the region.

Established in 1772 when the Boscaini family acquired premium vineyards in the small valley named 'Vaio dei Masi', Masi Agricola has grown into one of the most iconic and respected estates in Veneto's Valpolicella Classica zone. Managed for generations by the Boscaini family, the winery has become globally renowned for championing and modernizing the traditional appassimento method, transforming indigenous grapes such as Corvina, Rondinella, and Molinara into rich, age-worthy masterpieces. In addition to creating the revolutionary 'Supervenetian' Campofiorin in the 1960s and collaborating with the historic Serego Alighieri counts, Masi is celebrated worldwide for its benchmark Amarone della Valpolicella expressions, including the prestigious Costasera, Mazzano, and Campolongo di Torbe.
